Week of August 31st-September 3rd

The first week of third grade is officially in the books! This week we spent time getting to know each other, establishing and practicing classroom routines, and even started cursive and math. Way to go, third graders!

Each week my goal is to send a family update via email and our classroom blog. In these communications you will read about what our class is up to along with any reminders for the upcoming weeks. You can expect emails to be sent out by Sunday.

Here is our first weekly update:

Morning Drop Off: Parents may drop students off at school at 7:25. We will have supervision outside. The doors will open at 7:30.

Writing: A note was sent home with your student this week about brining in materials to decorate their Writer's Notebook. These can be photos, stickers, drawings, etc.. Please note that the items will be cut and glued. Students can select their materials and bring them in Tuesday, September 7th.

Reminder About Art Smocks: The art teacher is asking all students to bring in an art smock to keep their clothes clean. This does not need to be anything fancy- an old large t-shirt would do just fine. Students will just keep it in their cubby until needed and bring it home at the end of the year. Please send one in as soon as you are able. If you are unable to provide one, please let me know.

Bucky Books: Bucky Books are being sent home with each child today. This is a fundraiser for the Eagle Point PTO. Please see the attached sheet for purchase options or kindly return it in your child's backpack as soon as possible. Thank you for your support of the Eagle Point PTO!

First Field Trip: The third graders have an opportunity to visit The Big Hill and explore. Our class will be going on October 12th (during the morning). On that day, please be sure that your child is dressed for being outdoors and possibly getting a little messy. More information on the trip will be sent out soon.
